Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a religious formation program
developed to nurture the child’s relationship with God. The format, inspired by the Montessori method, is simple. The catechist gathers with the children in small groups in a beautiful environment containing interactive materials representing the Bible and the Church’s liturgy. Volunteers are needed
in our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program:

If you have an hour a week that you are looking to give to help in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program, have we got a spot for you! We are currently in need of Atrium-Keepers, and Atrium Cleaners. This would require you to come in for an hour a week (your choice of day/time) to complete one of the following tasks:

Atrium Keeper – Would be someone who would come in and look over all the materials in the atrium, re-stocking all papers, sprucing up all materials on the shelf, sharpening pencils, cutting paper and making “shopping” lists of things that are running low.

Atrium Cleaner –Would be someone who would come in once a week and spend an hour cleaning in the atrium. This would require moving materials off of the shelves, dusting the shelves, cleaning all glass items, shaking out area rugs.

Our Atrium rooms are used many times in the course of the week by the children of St. Margaret. These rooms help the children and the catechist spend time with God in a most prayerful way. Working in these rooms will also give you a time to be prayerful with the many wonderful materials, this time spent helping in our Atrium can also become for you a most prayerful experience!

Donations always needed:

The children in the atrium go through many things in the course of their work, and we are always in need of the following items. If you are able to send in any of the following items with your children when they come to atrium class, we would be very appreciative:

- Color pencils
- Washable Color Markers
- Yeast
- Ribbon (1/4 inch fabric spools)
- Tracing Paper
- Pens
- Small votive candles (unscented)
- Religious Christmas card covers (used is fine)
