Parish Ministries

Altar Guild
We gather weekly as small groups on Thursday or Friday mornings (depending upon church availability) to clean the altar and sanctuary area, as well as the sacred vessels used during the liturgy. In preparation for Christmas and Easter liturgies, we come together as one large group to make our house of worship sparkle and shine, and to arrange the seasonal flowers in the sanctuary area. Our labor of love offers us an opportunity to give something back to God for the many blessings we receive in our lives. If you are interested and able to help out, please contact Dorothy Ballantine at 732-5516.

Baptism Ministry

Baseball League
The mission of St. Margaret’s baseball is to create an atmosphere of community involvement and interaction that will provide our children with a quality program in which they can be taught the fundamentals of the game, encourage sportsmanship, and offer them an opportunity to learn and grow within the community of St. Margaret’s. Information about the league can be found on the web at www.leaguelineup.com/stmargarets. Anyone interested in joining or coaching should call 828-8331. All coaches must attend the VIRTUS training sessions.

Bible Sharing Groups
A women’s group meets every Monday morning in the church auditorium. For further information, contact MaryJane Kogler at 732-3285.

Blood Drive
Twice a year St. Margaret of Scotland church sponsors a blood drive run by LI Blood Services. Blood donors generously turn out consistently donating approximately 120 pints. Volunteers at the blood drive consist of senior citizens who operate the sign-up table and canteen, as well as teens who help with publicity and “reminder” phone calls. For information contact Joe Callari at 736-3825 or 696-0226.

Cana Ministry
The goals of the Cana Ministry are to enrich the marriage relationship and provide an opportunity to be supported by other couples in the community. This is accomplished by having a married couples’ evening in the church auditorium. The evening starts with a covered dish dinner, followed by a talk on topics relevant to the marriage covenant, and concludes with discussion over dessert. There are three gatherings every year. Volunteers are needed for registration, purchasing paper products and decorations, setting up the auditorium, welcoming couples, monitoring the heating of food, managing the beverage table, clean up of the kitchen, and clean up of the tables. For more information contact Alan & Linda Loeper at 736-1507.

Clerical Volunteers
The parish can always use someone who has clerical skills, e.g., filing, computer, etc. For more information contact the Parish Receptionist, 732-3131 ext. 0.

Cub Scouts
St. Margaret’s has sponsored Cub Pack 229 for twenty years. We try to instill in our young cubs a duty to God, family, and country. At each rank or stage of development, our cubs learn about themselves, their family, their country, and their environment. We do this in an atmosphere of fun and togetherness, in a den or as a pack. Pack 229 is not just about learning. It is also about having fun, whether it’s playing a game at Pack Night, catching a fish on a Pack fishing trip, or telling ghost stories around the campfire during one of our family campouts. For more information contact Rich & Tammy Barcia at 696-1924.
