Knights of Columbus – Heart of the Island
Council
The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal, charitable organization
founded in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney. Our Heart of the
Island Council embellishes their foundational principles of
charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism with a spirit of
family. They strive to help our parish in any way possible,
e.g., providing vouchers to our Human Services Office, preparing
baskets with food and gifts at Thanksgiving and Christmas time
for those less fortunate, and participating in the various
ministries offered at St. Margaret’s. New members are always
welcome and actively recruited by our council family. For
further information contact Joe Callari at 736-3825 or 696-0226.
Lectors
Legion of Mary
Do you try to get closer to Jesus through our Blessed Mother
Mary? Well, so do we, the members of the Legion of Mary. We meet
every Friday in the rectory at 9:45 a.m. Why not consider
joining us as we try to increase our own spirituality while
assisting the parish in any way possible. If you can’t attend
Friday morning meetings, we also have an auxiliary group that
does not have to attend meetings. As legionnaires we visit
nursing and adult homes, primarily to lead the rosary and
conduct one-hour rosary classes when invited by religious
education instructors. For further information please contact
Rectory 732-3131.
Ministry of Hope
The Ministry of Hope offers a complete aftercare program
beginning with wake prayer services at funeral homes and
assisting with the funeral mass. Care continues with direct
personal contact with the bereaved, regular mailings of
materials on grief and healing, counseling, library, and support
groups. If you would like to volunteer to help in any of these
areas, or would like additional information, contact Barbara
Mahon
at 732-3131 ext. 113.
Music Ministry
Parish Social
Ministry (Outreach)
Pre-Cana
Couples in this ministry share their married-life experiences
with engaged couples who are preparing for the sacrament of
marriage. In this way we are able to assist engaged couples in
identifying their personal values, opinions, and faith in light
of the gospel, and the impact this will have on their growth as
a married couple in the Christian community. Each team consists
of two married couples who act as discussion group facilitators
for three-to five engaged couples. The program runs three times
a year. Each session contains six weekly meetings, two at the
church, and four in a team member’s home. If you would like to
learn more or volunteer for this exciting ministry contact Kerry
& Donna Cramer at 736-0825.
